The Sarkar lab is committed to maintaining a welcoming and inclusive environment for individuals from all backgrounds and experiences. This breadth of perspectives generates creative new ideas, more impactful collaborative science, and greater self-reflection and education.

Diversity among molecules and cells is also at the heart of our science. We study the role of heterogeneity in cellular decision-making through single-cell approaches that allow us to dissect the individuality of otherwise genetically identical cells and to apply this knowledge towards improved disease treatment. We also build highly diverse biomolecular libraries for use in protein engineering campaigns to select for unique sequences with desired functionality that would have otherwise not been possible to identify.
